A summer club built on stroke technique, fitness & team spirit.

The Bluebacks offer swim training, healthy competition and genuine team support to kids ages 5 to adult. Whether your swimmer has just found the deep end or is chasing a personal best, there's a lane here for them.

We run developmental groups for kids who have the basics but are new to racing, right up to advanced training focused on technique, endurance and speed. As a member of the BC Summer Swimming Association, our main program runs May through August, with a maintenance program up to twice a week in the off-season.

New to us and aged 5–6? If your swimmer can cover 15 metres unassisted and is comfortable with their face in the water, they'll start in a low-ratio development group after a quick swim assessment.

Every fast swimmer started with a first race.

We coach the whole climb, from a first width of the pool to Fraser South Regionals and BCSSA Provincials, with fun and friendly competition at every step.

Coaching

Grow with us, from volunteer to head coach.

Our coaches are the heart of the club, and many of them started as swimmers right here on the deck. The Bluebacks Coaching Pathway gives young leaders a clear route from volunteer coach all the way to head coach, backed by real training and mentorship.

Good to know

Questions parents ask us

Does my child need to be a strong swimmer to start?
They need to be able to swim about 15 metres unassisted and be comfortable putting their face in the water. New swimmers aged 5–6 who meet that are placed in a low-ratio development group, and all new members do a short swim assessment first so we can find the right fit.
How often are practices, and are they mandatory?
We recommend a minimum of 2–5 practices per week, building to one or two a day for older, more advanced swimmers. Swimmers get the most out of the season by coming regularly; those who rarely practise find it hard to keep up.
Are swim meets required, and do they cost extra?
Meets are optional but highly encouraged; they're where the fun and friendships happen. Best of all, your season fee already covers meet costs, so there's nothing extra to pay (no-shows excepted). Optional weekend meets begin in June.
What does the $595 season fee cover?
Everything for the summer season (May–August): all practices up to five times a week, dryland training, and meet fees. You can pay in full or split it into three installments, and funding help may be available through JumpStart or Athletics for Kids (A4K).
Can swimmers keep training after summer?
Yes. Our Fall & Winter Maintenance program runs up to twice a week (September–December and January–April), in keeping with BCSSA rules. Priority goes to members who swam during the regular season, space permitting.
